What is reiki? (and more places to read about it)
Reiki is a natural relaxation, a healing practice that supports overall balance, pain relief, stress management, understanding/acceptance of self (and others). Reiki is a practice that encourages the body, mind, and emotions to seek homeostasis and well-being.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “Divine Wisdom or Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is "spiritually guided life force energy". It is the transmission of light energy through the practitioner’s hands into the physical body; energy is innately intelligent and will flow wherever it is needed.
A Reiki session usually is between 45 and 60 minutes in length. The session is performed by a Reiki practitioner using many modalities; hand positions, non-touch reiki, crystals, sound. The client is fully clothed while comfortably reclining on a massage table or seated in a chair.
This subtle and effective form of energy healing is practiced in every country of the world, is used in many settings such as offices, classrooms, hospitals, hospice, legal facilities, private business, restaurants, law enforcement agencies as well as in private practice and in self-care arenas, and is a wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program.
